EBRD: The Green Bank

The EBRD has an ambitious goal to become a majority green bank by 2025. To reach this milestone, it has diversified its green finance activities, and now supports a broad range of initiatives globally.

EBRD asked Liminal to survey their communications output with comments from internal producer groups and external consumers.

Through interviews, a survey and desk research we identified key issues to solve, and offered a number of recommendations to be taken forward to achieve this vision.

The Brief

What we did

There were three high-level strategic recommendations for further consideration.

Firstly to give the people closest to a problem full autonomy to solve it as by definition they are nearest to their audience and most critically aware of their audience needs, habits and preferences.

Secondly we identified the need for multilateral solutions; pooling communication resources and partner networks in communications?

Lastly when faced with complexity, we advocate running experiments and give permission to try things that EBRD don’t currently do.

These recommendations were adopted and are now contributing to helping the EBRD has an ambitious goal to become a majority green bank by 2025.
