Global: Sustainably Scalable

We were recently commissioned Liminal to conduct research to understand the growth challenges faced by UK small businesses at the moment, and how businesses from a range of different sectors can thrive in response. In particular we were interested in growth in the context of our transition to a more sustainable future.

The findings are intended to be used to inform our clients broader engagement of already working with growing businesses to unlock sustainable growth, both locally and globally.

The Brief

What we did

We conducted deep-dive interviews with businesses, including founders, CEOs, heads of sales, partnerships and marketing.

A range of B2C and B2B companies across sectors;  beauty, carbon offsetting, consulting, 3D printing, air quality, transport, online learning, retail.

We ensured a diverse range of organisations who were working in different fields and also at different stages of their sustainability journey.

Some had sustainability in their business’ DNA and were set up as a solution to the environmental crisis, others had just begun their journey.

This research informed three primary recommendations for how our client can work with small and growing businesses around becoming sustainably scalable.

The people that somehow actually have the power to change the world don’t have the courage to take these technologies or promote and support a new science and bring it to a higher level and vice versa.
